7. Use of AI Technology for Clinical Documentation

To provide you with the highest quality of care and ensure our focus remains entirely on your health during consultations, our clinic utilizes Heidi Health (Heidi AI), an artificial intelligence-based clinical documentation tool. This tool listens to consultations to generate accurate medical notes. The system is validated by OntarioMD and meets all Ontario Ministry of Health security standards. The audio is processed securely and is never stored permanently. All data handling strictly complies with PHIPA regulations to protect your personal health information.

How it Works

With your explicit verbal or written consent, Heidi AI may be used to listen to our consultation and generate a draft of the clinical medical note. This allows the Urologist to engage more directly with you rather than focusing on manual data entry.

Privacy and Security Measures

We take your privacy seriously. The use of Heidi AI adheres to the following standards:

  • PHIPA Compliance: Heidi AI is designed to be compliant with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and federal PIPEDA regulations.

  • Data Encryption: All data processed is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

  • No Permanent Audio Storage: Once the clinical note is generated and finalized by the physician, the raw audio recording is typically deleted and not stored permanently by the AI service.

  • Physician Oversight: Every note generated by AI is reviewed, edited, and verified by your Urologist for accuracy before becoming a permanent part of your medical record.

  • Data Residency: We configure our tools to ensure data is processed in accordance with Canadian privacy standards.

Your Choices

The use of Heidi AI is entirely optional. You may opt out at any time during your visit, and your decision will not impact the quality of care you receive. If you choose to opt out, we will use traditional manual charting methods.

6. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Any legal disputes shall be handled exclusively in the courts of Ontario.
