Cystoscopy
What is it?
A cystoscopy is a procedure that uses a small camera to examine the urethra, bladder neck, bladder, and prostate (if applicable). This procedure is performed in the hospital.
On arrival, you will register at patient registration and be directed to the day surgery area. You will be asked to change into a procedure gown. In the procedure room, you will lie on your back, and your legs may be placed in stirrups.
An antiseptic solution will be used to clean the genital area, and a freezing gel will be applied to help minimize discomfort. A small camera is then gently inserted into the urethra and advanced into the bladder. The bladder is filled with fluid to allow clear visualization while Dr. Dhanjani examines the urethra, bladder neck, bladder, and prostate (if applicable).
